Vitamin A was given the first letter of the alphabet for a name because it was the first vitamin to be discovered. It was found that vitamin A has a large number of uses in the body including keeping eyes healthy, aiding cell growth and also helping boost the immune system. However, vitamin A is not only absorbed directly but it is also created by the body by converting beta carotene into vitamin A.

Vitamin A itself is found in a number of foods such as eggs, milk, liver and meat. Beta carotene that the body can convert into vitamin A is found in many fruits and vegetables, especially the red, orange and green coloured ones. The most important point to remember that consuming too much pure vitamin A can be toxic. It is essential not to exceed the recommended daily allowance for vitamin A. The actual recommended allowance of vitamin A varies depending on a persons age, sex and other factors. While the actual amount of vitamin A consumed may be toxic if the recommended daily allowance is exceeded, there is a far higher limit to how much beta carotene can be consumed. Therefore it is advisable to concentrate on obtaining the greatest amount of beta carotene which the body can then convert to vitamin A, rather than consuming vast quantities of pure vitamin A rich foods.

Many people will remember being told that eating lots of carrots helps you to see in the dark and that is down to the vitamin A that is produced from the high levels of beta carotene that are found in the vegetables. Other foods which have high levels of beta carotene that can be converted to vitamin A include tomatoes and dark green leafy vegetables, such as spinach. Beta carotene is not only used to form vitamin A, but it is also a powerful antioxidant in itself. None of the beta carotene that is absorbed is wasted as any excess after conversion to vitamin A has taken place is used to fight the harmful free radicals within the body. Vitamin A also helps fight infections and illnesses by helping tissues that line various parts of the body, including the eyes, mouth, nose, throat and lungs, to grow and also to repair them if they are damaged to prevent infection. Children also need plenty of vitamin A to help their bones and teeth to develop properly.

Every woman wants to look her best. And the best means that they must feel beautiful and young. We all are gifted with our unique looks. Yes, society has placed standards on what beautiful is, but more than anything, people just look more attractive when they feel it from within.

Most people assume that women look best in their twenties or thirties. But what about the ladies who are over fifty? The good news is that beauty is not defined by a persons age. You can feel young and beautiful no matter how old you may be. The one way women can enhance their assets is through make-up. If you just know what to highlight and accentuate, women over fifty can look 20 years younger.

The first step to a younger looking skin is through proper skin care. Your skin, after all, is your largest organ. You need to properly care for it. When you dont feel well, people can tell through the pallor of your skin. When you are healthy, people see the glow. This is, after all, the first thing that people see. Keep your skin soft by using the right products. Keep skin clean with soap and apply lotions and moisturizers so that you leave your skin feeling smooth and supple. Older skin gets damaged easily. Avoid the sun if you can. If you abuse your skin, it will look like aged leather. Who wants that? Never go out in the sun without any form of protection.

Applying make-up is a natural part of a womans daily routine. Recently, there has been a trend to adopt the make-up principle: Less is more. Many women are now looking for a more natural look when wearing make-up. How a woman achieves a natural look will depend on individual skin type. The skin type, color, and tone will affect how one achieves a natural look.

Now you are ready to move on to make-up. The right type of makeup and application techniques will determine the type of natural look you want to create. Remember, less is more!

Before you put anything on your face, apply some primer. This will smooth the skin surface so that the make-up blends more naturally. Now you are ready for the foundation. The type of foundation you use is essential. Pick one that matches your skin tone. The rule of thumb is to use a foundation that is one shade lighter than your natural skin color. Apply this all over your face and at the top of your neck.

The next step involves the application of the concealer. This smoothes the skin and helps cover dark circles, blemishes, and lines. You can then apply a small amount of bronzer. A bit of a tint will get you to look healthier. Just remember to put only a hint of this, otherwise you will look as if youve stayed out in the sun too long.

The eyes may also be a crucial area here. Apply a tinted mascara to make your lashes look naturally dark. When applying eye-shadow, light neutral tones look better. A thin line of eyeliner will create the illusion that you have fuller lashes.

For the lipstick, use something that almost matches the color of your natural lips. The point is, the more you head towards the natural direction, the younger youll look. Make-up was invented to enhance your face and highlight your beautiful features.
